Hey guys
Have any of you had a problem with the right handside of you k5 looking a little lower than the left handside:doah: (sitting in truck). Ever since i started running the BB it seems to sit a little lower , Has the tourqe bent the frame? Ive put new springs on the front , no difference , and im pretty sure its not been in an accident :doah:A friend said when i accelarate the side that sits lower raises up. Chassis mounts

Any thoughts ?

When I did a frame off on my blazer I put the new springs on while the frame was upside down on a rotisserie stand and my right hand spring had a different shackle angle (making it lean to the right). I measured from eye to eye on my spring mounts and found out that my right side was an inch longer than my left. I know my frame has not been in a collision and not mounts had been altered with because it had the stock rivets still in place. I ended up having to move my right front spring hanger back an inch.

So, measure eye to eye on your front spring mounts, I bet one of them is longer than the other.

was wondering what all modifications you had to make to install a big block other than the obvious stuff. were you able to use small block motor mounts? and iv'e also heard something about crossmember modification. I have a 402 that I will be installing soon and would like input on a few of the "g*dd@mmit!" issues i will be running into. Thanks!

I didn't run into any "issues" so to speak. The stock motor mounts will work but I opted for DIY's motor mounts. Therefore, the mounting location and what not is the same. You will want to put a bigger radiator in then get the new mounts for the larger radiator. Also, I am running the tall valve covers so I pushed my firewall back a bit to help for clearence, but it will still fit fine without modding the firewall.

Also, I boxed in the front half of my frame just for added strenght. As for crossmember issues, I had none.

GM was smart in making the C/K series trucks, the frames are all basically the same, motor mounts, bellhousing bolt patterns, etc. Makes swapping parts a cinch.

I am not runnin the bb yet but after I installed new 4" springs, when sitting in the truck the right does look lower than left when looking at the hood.
