I just got this email... this is evidently from mudfreak's wife.

Jeff,

I happened to come across your on-road K5 when looking for K5 info at
www.coloradoK5.com. My husband and I have a S10 Blazer that we love, but
really want a larger passenger 4x4 that can tow and that is easy to work on.
Anyhow, your on road K5 was my ex's. I am e-mailing you to let you know
the scoop on that Blazer.

I actually was the one who encouraged my ex to buy that Blazer. As you
know, he has (had??) another K5. Well, when we came across the 89 (your K5)
we knew the body on the 88 was trashed, well beyond being worth it to
repair. The engine in the 89 was pretty weak and the 4wd questionable at
best. But, I told him he could take the good engine and drive train out of
the 88 and put it in the good body of the 89. The man selling the 89 said
it was a 350. He also said that the truck was originally his and was
stolen. The vehicle (stripped and in disrepair) was found years later (this
explains the low odometer mileage). He had to junk it because of insurance,
but bought it back with a salvage title. He claimed he put in the engine
and tranny and also did all of the body and interior work. The K5 was a
looker and I liked it. I really don't remember what my ex paid for it. For
a couple months the K5 was fine. Even though the ride quality wasn't great
and the engine still weak, overall the K5 did a few 2 to 3 hour trips and
ran OK for a while. The first trouble was the engine. we had suspicioned it
was not a 350, but really a 305. It also didn't really look like any 350
engine I'd ever seen in a Chevy truck. I remember looking for casting
numbers, but I can't remember if he ever looked them up to see if it was
really a 305. Never the less, he at least thought it was a 305. Then the
tranny went. It wouldn't even shift out of first!! He limped it to the
tranny shop and the guy there did a "quick fix" of some sort to get the
truck moving again. He told my ex that it looked like someone opened up
that tranny and threw a bunch of random parts in there. then he suggested he
sell it as soon as possible. I told him to put the 2 K5s together to get
one good one. Well, I guess he just wanted to get rid of it. I knew he had
advertised it on line, but at that point our relationship had taken an even
sharper turn for the worse. I didn't realize he asked that much for it and
said it was in great shape!!! Considering some of the things he did to me
after I left him (and the lies he told me before), I shouldn't be surprised
that he would lie about that Blazer to sell it. I'm so sorry to hear about
all the trouble with that Blazer. from your website you seem like such a
kind person and I feel so bad that my ex took advantage of that. I know he
wasn't happy when he started thinking that the K5 had a 305 and problems,
but 2 wrongs certainly don't make a right. I wish I could have shed some
light on your K5 sooner. I hope that now the K5 is a good ride for you and
that you and your family get many enjoyable years of usefulness out of it.

Well that 'splains alot!!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Sheesh, hope he can sleep at night. Creep.

That was really nice of her to tell you all of those things. It really sucks for you though, it is sad when people take advantage of others especialy decent people. Hopefully what comes around goes around and one day he will get his. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

what a low life scumbag /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

FYI - the guy's username on here is mudfreak...

I didn't buy site unseen being niave. I don't have one client in the last 2 years that I've even met, and people come to me and literally put their business in my hands.

I do hand shake agreements with all my clients (where I stand to loose), and have just made a decision to trust people.

I've been burnt before, but all in all it really helps my business. people have to trust me immediately, and this policy greatly helps facilitate this.

however, I believe dollar for dollar this is the worst I've ever bene taken.

taking into account everything I've had to do / the shape it was promised to be in I've lost I figure around 12 grand on this deal.

taken me almost 2 years to get this thing in the condition I expected it to be in when I got it.

That really sucks ass Jeff...and although the news wasn't what you wanted to hear it does help to know exactly what was up with your truck.

I felt nearly the same way when a friend of the previous owner of my truck told me all about mine. The previous owner of my truck is dead, and the truck got sold off cheap to a car lot that slapped it back together after it had been rolled over hard. All news to me after I had bought it.../forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

well - finally after 2 years this things in good working order... finally got rid of all the vibes etc. in the drive train (bent front drive shaft, rear yoke that was ground out to take 1 ton u joint with no clips or any way to hold it, 3.08 worn gears taken out, 10,000 miles later took to diff rearend shop to discover that pin & spider were also worn, and that's where all my vibes were coming from, and put in a different driveshaft in the rear because it was out of balance - this is just getting the vibes out of the drivetrain). I'm looking forward to finally getting to actually use this thing for an extended period of time.

here the parts list of parts I have not replaced, rebuilt, rewired etc. etc. etc.; drivers side power window motor, rear window power window motor, starter, and master cyl.

I've literally got a new blazer sitting here.

yea - well can't help ya on that side skigirl... LOL /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I'm sure something else will happen, but it should be solid for a while for me. hopefully it is settled down enough I can work on a few cosmetic things.

You and me Jeff. At least you have a reasonable excuse - you were lied to. I was just stupid. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Welcome to the stupid club, I am the president... I got royally screwed too. I took the previous owners word on my truck because he was my mechanic. Big mistake...

Hey Jeff... maybe you should go back and edit your orginal thread now to reflect the truth.../forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

not worth the effort to edit it now... the guy's a jerk, and I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt for a long time; actually above & beyond. I think everybody else was convinced I was screw much quicker then I was.

I haven't seen mudfreak around for a long time. he was trying to sell alluminum tanks I believe for a while, but I sent a few pm's to the people he was trying to sell them to telling them what he had done to me.

they abandon any plans of doing bus. with him, and I haven't seen him around since. besides, after this post I think everybody would help me chase him off.
