for all with 241 SYE kits, ?\'s

Ok, I got my kit in from JB conversions.
Is this thing gonna be easy or do I have some curve balls coming at me. It looks relatively simple, but HEY!! Murphy cold be in this package and I'd hate to have to open a can of whooop a$$.
Looks as though I'll be eliminating the tail shaft housing all together with this kit, is this true?

Also it sayd to press the output bearing out of the original rear bearing retainer. Is this something that I can do with a drift punch? Well, are there any bearings that I have to get press off or on that I cant do with the punch and a tap hammer?

What is and what should never be....

Hmmmm. I am having my Tcase rebuilt by a shop. Purchased my SYE from Jesse and he would have told me how to rebuild it myself tho......

Who is this JB? Will they give you tech support?

I did not run into any curve balls when i did the SYE on my 241. Pretty cut and dry. I used a bench vise and large socket to press out the bearing. I would be weary of beating it out with a hammer b/c you might crack the case if it gets stuck. I used the same vise to press in the new bearing on the new tail shaft also. And yes you will no longer use the original tailshaft. I have some pics of it on my webshots page, the link is below.

Hope this helps,
Joe

pretty straightforward swap! Yes it elim. the tailshaft and replaces it w/the red anodized piece , pay careful attention to the chicken scratch drawing as far as shim placement and what not , and be extra careful with the oil pump pickup tube while putting case halves back together , I also found my nylon shift fork wear pads worn and wish I had them at the time to replace them , I'm sure they are inexpensive so I'd pick some up before I busted it open!!! as far as the bearing goes, I put mine in a press and it almost fell out!! they don't fit that snug in the cast piece , just tap it out square and with full support underneath so as not to break a hunk off......oh yeah!! almost forgot yoke nut wouldn't tighten up enough with the yoke I used , sorry don' have the number , but it was the spicer one for a 1330cv shaft , I had to chuck it up in a 4jaw lathe and take off 1/4" any other q's just ask CC
