I need a new plug wire for mine. Dont want to give Kawaski 80 bucks for a complete coil when I just need the wire.

So where can I get just the wire or maybe an aftermarket coil.

Quad is an 89 Kawaski Mojave 250.

I found a site that sells NKG universal plug wires. Just dont know if I can change just the wire.

some coils you can unscrew the wire from the coil, it has what looks like a wood screw that the wire screws on to, you can just get a generic wire from the auto parts store as long as it's the same type annd O.D.

Yep, I see what you mean. All they show is the coil and wire together for about $85.

It might be doable. You need to try to get the old wire off and see if there is a way to attach a new one.

I pulled the old wire off and clip about a half inch off of it. Then put it back together and rode it all day. Mine didnt look like it had a screw inside. Looks to be just a spike.

Dont they need to be a solid core wire.

No, the carbon/kevlar type usually just has a spike that goes up inside the insulation and makes contact with the core.

The one I pulled off was a solid core i believe.

chaparral-racing.com also doesn't have it

Unless it's something you can make, you might have to fork over the $$.
