When I get my motor and tranny back in, I would like someone with experience to help me break in the motor. It would be awesome if one of you would be willing to come over and help me. All I really need help with would be timing, adjusting tv cable, and just small things like that. My last motor blew up after 100 or so miles and I dont want that to happen again :doah:

Exhaust Question

I am going to be running headers in the motor i am dropping in. Would it be easier to just remove the exhaust now and have a shop just install a new one? I am not sure if the headers are in the same spot as the stock manifolds were

Headers won't line up in the same location.

The bummer is, when you put hte new motor in with teh headers, you probably don't want to break in the cam with open headers.

Sounds like a tow to an exhaust shop before breakin may be in your future.

Should I just remove the exhaust then? It will make re installing the tranny easier anyways. Would an exhaust shop be able to make flowmaster that hook right up to the headers? I know of a shop that does flowmasters for 220 but the engine was always stock

Yah, a shop will custom bend everything. You either get a new y pipe made ot hookup to your stock system (or whatever mufflers you have), or pay them to go full custom, add a flowmaster, etc.

Where are you doing the break in at? I can break engines in here with no exhaust, but I have no neighbors.

Marti

Yeah that won't work, I already had the police called on me for the tranny being on the ground under the truck:doah:

They are shorty headers. I will specify to try to keep the exhaust as much out of the way as possible for future repairs
