Why get fancy rims for 6 lug axles if you're going to upgrade the axles? Just pickup some 6 lug 16.5" steelies and run those for now.

Never ran the 37" radials on a civy truck. Drove many HMMWV's with them around 10 years ago.
Not super loud but have a hum.
Okay road manors, not a car tire. No worse than most other old design radial mud tires.
They are pretty round. Most of ours were mounted without balancing and they ran well despite being on 7000lb HMMWV's with beadlocks.
Offroad - meh. Definitely not a Super Swamper TSL and the sidewalls are thin. For just bombin' around in the woods and on 2 tracks, a good tire. Deep, sticky mud might give you trouble. They pack right up.

Well the rims are only $100ea and It will be more than a year before I swap axles

This is 80'427's 1979 K30. It has a 4" lift with the 37x12.50x16.5" radial Hummer tires. Later I'll look around for some better pictures.

I really like them. The other day we groved all the lugs in 1/2 and I could tell a instant difference on the snow/ice. Sure they aren't better than some expensive tires but that truck has maybe 1500-2000 in it. Is it really worth 1000+ in tires? I am going to work on some tire softener for when we do a little crawling to see if it will help. Hell with what you save buy a front locker, I did. Looking to buy 2 more sets just to have on hand. Oh and mine are mounted on stock 6"? Steel wheels. Buy $25 white spokes and call it a day.

Alright so u guys talked me out of getting the hummer wheels but Im definitly going to get the tires. Now for wheels. Can anyone confirm the stock backspacing? I guess I will have to take a wheel off tomarrow and measure to be sure. AJM, if it is 3.5-4" most of those wheels that summit sells are 4.75" Is that going to bring the tire in too far and then it possibly rubs on the spring when the tires are turned?

Yeah thats the one Im thinking of going with as well. Im waiting for one of our vendors, 4wheelcustoms, to get back to me on a shipping quote. He's got the same wheel for about $10 less. Thanks for the help

No prob, glad to do it.

I will suggest checking the clearance between the drag link and the tire. That was where I had trouble with Big Ugly. I just adjusted the steering stop and lost a bit of my super hard right turning ability.

Whats with all the kegs??

Moving empty kegs from a party we throw at my place on Labor Day weekend. We have four sand volleyball courts in our yard. We threw all the keg shells in the quonset when they ran dry, so no one would be tempted to take any. Then the next morning we stacked them in a pyramid for ****s and giggles. Have done it the past few years.

What air pressure do you guys find best on the street? They are a load range D, which is normal for a 16.5" rim. Typically the bigger the tire the less PSI for the same load, but I didn't know if anybody found the 30psi limit of the 8-bolt rim an issue on a 1/2-ton or 3/4-ton Chevy.

What about re-re-centering the hummer wheels after you change the axles? Then you already have your beadlocks and stuff. A new center should be cheaper than a 16.5x9.75 6-lug steelie.

That is a possibility. But I'm pretty much decided on the wheels and tires that Im gonna go with. With the money I save now I can use that towards the rest of the parts I need for the 4" lift kit. I really don't know when I would change axles or even if I would. I was just kinda throwing that out there
