I'm very conflicted about what I should do. Weather getting so nice, I want to wheel, but I really want to cruise the streets in a turbo LQ4 powered silverado too, haha.

= TICKET$ :D

By the time he swaps all the 3/4ton 'train in there, it's not gonna make much difference...only thing that will be lighter is the frame...and there is no replacement for displacement. :D

It is amazing how fast a two-wheel drive, full size, V8 Chevy truck can go. Back in the early 80's I had a 1976 two-wheel drive 1 ton duallie with a built 454. That sucker go up the Interstate-5 Grapevine hill at 100 MPH without even breathing hard. That video was taken at Los Angeles Raceway, up in Palmdale. I used to go race up there pretty regulary at NHRA Division 7 races when I had a Super Comp altered dragster.

I'll bet the 8.1 ain't bad right off the lot.

What ya think the chaces are it's built heavier than a 1/2 ton smallblock since it's theoretically meant to tow/haul/work more/harder...might take more abuse. Nitrous, boost, etc.

Why not start with a 2500 8.1???
the only aftermarket for them is cam and headers. I don't care for big blocks much myself. Parrish was making over 1000HP out of his motor(no nitrous) when he blew it up, why would you NEED a big block with that sort of power out of a small block??
