Do it. There is literally no down fall to a LS series engine in a square body. More power, more reliable, better economy, more responsive. The list goes on and on.

The others who also have LS swapped rigs will agree.

If your on the fence about it, just do it. You'll be satisfied when it's finished.

ive been leaning towards a 5.3 or 6.0 in front of my 4 speed. what kinda costs are we looking at assuming we buy a complete junkyard low miles engine for say 1000 just for numbers. what all else is involved cost wise? my ol 355 needs a rebuild and all the leaks fixed. and if its coming out a LS is going in

Well I gave my self a 500 dollar budget to do my 5.3 swap. I already had the motor and trans. I came out at around 400 or so but I didn't do a lot of flashy stuff, just a bare bones 5.3 4l60e swap.

I tuned my own PCM so that was basically free for me.

If your gonna run a 4 speed you'll need the nfw1050 fly wheel because of the thickness and you can run ls7 pilot bearings too. Some people only want pilot bushings but they put a pilot bearing in a production car so I figure it's good for 50K or so miles.

If I was doing a 5.3 or 6.0 I front of a 4 speed, including the price of the engine I'd give my self 1400-1600 to get it all squared away. Just depends on getting it tuned and working your harness. That's for a no flash swap tho.

Bonanza what application is that flywheel for?

I was planning on using a 4.8/5spd flywheel and pilot bearing. That's all factory to put a SBC trans behind an ls.

I believe it's originally for a 6.0 5 speed work truck. Early 2000 or so. I'm not positive exactly what vehicle it's originally for.

And yea you'll need new motor mount adapter plates from like dirty dingo, Holley, or diy4x offers a set now
