? for those with big blocks

for those of you that have big blocks in your K5's...did you have to use different frame stands, or did it just bolt in? and what headers did you use? I talked to summit and jegs, and was thinking about some hedman elite headers...and they both said I have to get factory big block frame stands. is that true, or will they clear without them? just trying to find out what kinda problems I may run into, before I decide what to buy. thanks.
 
My big block bolted right in with the factory small block motor mounts. I have headers off a 1978 nova on mine, but I can not say for sure that they would work for you as my frame may have be modified for them to fit. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
 
I have a 396 mounted onto a 350 small block mounts in my 72 blazer and it works great. except i had to cut the fan gaurd a little cause the belt rubbed a bit.
 
Mine bolted right in too using the small block mounts. I think the only difference is the small block mounts might make it sit up a little higher.
As for headers, I running Hooker Super comps made for a big block blazer
 
what kind of headers are you running, if any? I think what they were saying, was that I needed the frame stands for those particular headers. they said the hookers didn't say anything about it. but I was wanting to go with the elites, because they were cheaper.
 
Mine are the full length stle like the ones pictured only ceramic coated and covered with mud /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What year K5 are you talking about?

I put a big block in my 69 K20 using the 69's small block motor crossmember but had firewall issues. I used Dynomax 67-87 2WD BBC headers fit, part number 86022 with a little frame grinding on the passenger side. Driver side fit perfectly.
 
I used dynomax headers for a 2wd and the stock small block frame mounts withe the 454 engine mounts no problems at all
