Just as stated is chevy and ford 8 lug the same. I bought a ford dana 60 and a gm 12 bolt for my sas swap and was wondering if i have to have different bolt pattern wheels?????

hey youre right, my bad......i bought a 14 bolt for the rear

The lugnuts may be differnt too just so ya know. My brother's m-37 has a chevy dana 60 in the front and a ford dana 60 in the rear he had to get two different sets of lugnuts

the wheels from a chevy won't fit over a ford d60. the hub is larger on the ford's.

Makes a big difference as to what Ford Dana 60 you got.

There are 3 distinct kinds of Ford D60s that will work out for you.

78-79 D60s have the same 8x6.5" pattern, but 1/2" wheel studs(14 bolt has 9/16" studs). So you will need different lug nuts front and back.

87+(think that is the change year) Ford D60s, have 9/16" wheel studs and the same 8x6.5" pattern, but the spring spacing is something like 36.5", which is 4" wider than a Chevy front axle. Makes it crappy to have low lift and large tires.

And I have no idea when for sure(think 94+) Ford went to Balljoint D60s. They have balljoints of course, as well as 8x6.5" and 9/16" studs. They also have the same wide 36.5" spring spacing.

99+ went to a Metric bolt patter and most are actually D50s not D60s.

And since when do Ford D60s have bigger hubs? My S10 is sitting on a 79 F250 Dana 60 and a 14 bolt with factory GM wheels all around, no mods.

Re-check your wheels? ;)

What is odd is on a '79 F250, you can fit GM wheels on the D44 front, but not on the D60 rear. Maybe the D60 front follows suit.

Its a D60, Snow Fighter package or whatever F250. I forget what 250s came with 60s but mine came from one of those.

Right now it has wheels off of an 04 2500HD on it. Before that was rims off of my 89 V2500 Burb... Don't know anything about the fitment issues you speak off. Don't have a rear 60 though. Not for lack of looking for one.

i know for sure the ford d60 rears require bigger wheels. i just bought a couple fords and my chevy wheels wouldn't fit. (they didn't have wheels and some were flat).

i have several sets of stock 8 lug wheels,1 set being fomoco stamped into wheels. when i put the for wheels on my gm 8 lugs there is about an 1/8'' gap all around between the wheel and the center hub, putting all the load on the studs so i use them only as spares. the gm wheels fit the hub tightly helping to support the weight, so its not all on the lugs!
