can't happen. GM brakes(even the D44 and 10 bolt) the knuckles are designed for the large single piston caliper. There is an indent in the knuckle to accept the caliper. Ford knuckles do not have that. You may be able to install the 3/4 ton single piston caliper off of a Chevy on the axle, but I didn't go that route because I figured, "I am upgrading everything by installing this, why would I then downgrade the brakes?" Gave me an excuse to buy some H1 rims ;)

I wouldn't call it a downgrade going from the Ford Calipers to the GM calipers. I hate all sliding type calipers anyway, but the GM's seem to work better than the Ford. The Ford design has a lot of friction surface compared to the GM. So you can probably make the Ford's work pretty good at first, but after a slushy winter or a few mud holes they won't work as well.

Also, unless HB'd and running a LARGE bore m/c those Ford calipers are going to give you a mushy feeling pedal. This is b/c the caliper piston area is too large and the total brake leverage ratio will be too high w/o the large bore m/c.
But don't let that stop you from buying those H1's (just get the 12 stud'ers).

had them for a while(8 studs).

I was talking about going from the 1 ton Ford brakes to the 3/4 ton Chevy(which is of course almost identical to the 1/2ton Chevy). When I first bought my Ford I wanted to swap to the Chevy outers I had on my Chevy 60 at the time. Unfortunately the Ford parts were all worn out so it made no sense to swap the stuff, spend a bunch of money on the Chevy axle only to try and sell it.
