Will a ford HP44 bolt into our trucks?

Can you use Chevy knuckles and such on the Ford axle or no?

Also, would the axles shafts from a Chevy 44 work in the ford 44 if you swapped em sides?

79 last year for bolt in same spring width from ford that i know of .

high pinion yes if small lift i would think since gm never planed high pinion .

swap ALL knuckle out with gm yes . that includes stub shafts . as to lengths of inners i have no clue .

Shaft lengths are different, but i think you can use the GM knuckles out and ford shafts and just smash your oil filter cuz the pinion is on the wrong side.

I’d ask Homer @handloader90 about this

And some dude named bent77 has one in his truck, but retubed it so the pinion is on the correct side. I think he has a build thread

Yeah he likes rubbing it in...lol

I was going to say check out Bent's build. Only dude around here running a HP44. He's got a dude right there in Co Springs that retubed the axle to keep the pumpkin on the correct side. Pretty slick setup.

What about the ones needing a driver's drop?

Ford axles come with the pumpkin on the wrong side to start with. But like Bent said, it's a good way to smash a SBC filter as it's not a very good pinion snubber.
I need to look at my s15 Jimmy, I was planning on an SAS using a Ford d44.
Hoping the 4.3 is different

4.3 being a 350 with 2 middle cylinders missing the filter is in the same spot. As in right in your way. Stock 4wd 4.3 equipped S10/S15's were equipped with remote oil filters for that reason. Yours should be relocated. The early ones were behind the driver's side headlight and the 95 and up were behind the skid plate under the radiator.

I'll look the thread back over. I know the same guy in the springs that did the re-tube and have talked to him about this briefly.

I was asking about the Ford HP44 because I wanted to run a newer 4l80e with a driver drop 241 since both of those are plentiful.

Not having any luck finding a passenger drop 241... if I do find one then my problem are solved, if not it's drivers drop.

I don't have an issue remote mounting the oil filter out of the way.

I was just more curious about the ford 44 bolting up cause I had remembered something about the ford and Chevy perches being in the some location up to some point.

I found a HP44 for $125 a few hours from me, missing everything from the knuckles out but from what's been said in here all of that can be swapped off of my current 44.

Homer!

My thread has an index on the first page, but you’re better off going straight to Homer for details
