just wanting to see how you'd tell if you know you have a ford 9 inch. i hate ford but it's for a guy. i always just look for the offset yoke and the bolts in the front with a solid back. am i wrong?
It has the drop out center section, smooth on the backside. If it's a 1/2 ton truck or van from the 70s or early 80s, 99.9% of the time it will be a 9". Very good axle IMO, pretty beefy in stock form, abuntant in yards, can be built to handle some power. Not sure on the offset yoke, thought they were centered for the most part. But the axles are different length.
