Where are you mounting your Furd shock Towers when you have AC? I have been searching for an half hour and cant find any pix. There is a lot of info but it is so old the pix are deleted.

Thanks

Which shock tower -- the cast one, or the older folded steel one? Also, what kind of AC (what year engine, i.e. serpentine or V-belt?)

I got the newer cast shock towers and while I don't have AC (anymore :D ) I have my York in the same area, and they're not even close, IIRC...

1st they are the older style steel towers. On the rt side one it is under the AC box! I can not go any higher on that side unless I move it forwards. I need Pix of that side with these installed.

Oh oh oh. Duh. I was thinking the AC *compressor* :doah:

I'm using the later cast ones, looked sturdier, and I seem to recall finding a hole to start them, then tilting them to clear the crap, and drilling the other two holes. Also cut the inner wheelwell.

HTH?

does the top of that sit in front of the AC box? It is a dark picture.

A crappy picture, in fact ;)

Just went out and looked, and nope, it sits underneath.

I know in the write up they cut a few inches off the bottom of the tower but it does not look like I will get much more travel out of it? I will have to go look at it again.

Which writeup? I'm about to do this and wouldnt mind reading up some more

check out what they look like in the picture but they can be obtained from the dealer for under 25$ for the pair. I paid 8.50 each(employee deal) they are going to tell you they are discontinued but they can still get them.

LMC does ferds now, too ... but IIRC the cast one I bought were like $15 a pop at the dealer ... maybe a bit more, I'm thinking I gave them ~$40 for the pair, shipped or whatever.

Are the shock towers normally riveted on the furd trucks or are they bolted on? If theyre riveted on thatl make it hard (read:impossbible) getting them from the pick n pull. Is that why everyone says to get them from the dealer?

I believe the early style stamped ones were; I donno about the cast ones.

There are some times where this built-not-bought thing ... involves buying ;) My time wasn't worth the $$, and the Ford dealer is a LOT closer than PnP ;)

Question for ya, how much lift is on your truck, and how are those shocks working out for you.

4" lift and the shocks are holding up fine. I have used them as limit straps and bump stops and not so much as a wimper from them.
