i have read some on guys using the ford super duty front shaft for the c/v and size of the shaft .

doing a k5 blazer build for my buddy and i my self have never really done short wheel base stuff so i need a little help .

specs are 5" or so suspension lift ORD 4" flip and thicker leaf pack / nv4500-205 fixed yoke rear and 1 5/8" thick advanced adapter spacer for the 205 on the nv4500 .

looking like around a mid to high 30" long shaft will know more when i get the engine/trans/t-case all in early this week .

we were going to go c/v shaft for the rear and wanted to keep it 1350 series stuff as its beefy and common stuff .

is the ford shaft a 1350 c/v head ?
and the end joint at the axle 1350 ?
life span/strength for rear use ?

or should we loo at a custom built shaft ?

Send it. I put 50k easy on my sd shaft with 6" and a 400/205. Still wheeling it now. Got it from @muddybuddy like a decade ago.

1350 for all three joints. Good choice all around imo. If you go custom 1350 CV it's just going to be a superduty cv head anyways.

Dodge now has a 1410 shaft that's pretty sweet I just got my hands on.

cool ..... 1410 shaft . but not for this rig at this point .

thanks for the feedback on the s/d shaft @obijuank5

and good applications or brands to buy off like ebay ? since here in the rust belt there all super nasty rusted to death already .

99-15 or so gets the driveshaft you want. Theres an early version with squared off ears on the CV h yoke that you want to avoid. Round h yoke is the better design.

That will get a collapsed length of 41" end to end.:hack:

I am using one as a back up in case my Tom Wood's ever bites the dust... and I hope not to cause that was a pretty penny

Get on eBay, you can pick up a brand new 99-04 SD front shaft for $170. That’s cheaper than the CV head itself. And let me find the part number so you can run a 1350CV head on the factory flange front output.

I noticed the 05-Up have a weird slip spline on them. I’ve also got the part numbers for longer travel slip spline/1410 yokes.

Heres my 1350 stock flanged and the dodge 1410 which shares the same pilot for the flanges on the front of our tcases.
They are shown at 32" flanges to center of yoke which fits my 4l80 205 with 4" and a 60 like perf.

Black one was also on my cucv with a 400/208 and a 60 with the same 4" springs. Didnt expect them to share a driveshaft.

What’s the bolt circle of that flange in the dodge one? My front shaft is going to be about that long and I like beefy stuff.

cool thanks iwaxmyjimmy

and thanks again obijuank5

That was made. Ford front shaft shares the same bolt circle but a much smaller pilot hole.

I use the ford SD front shaft for my rear (SYE 241, 14BFF, Shackle flip, and zero rate). Not sure of the year or model anymore. I did shorten it to fit.

nv4500/1 5/8" advanced adapter spacer / 205 fixed yoke rear with around 5" lift in the rear and axle back 1" looks like right around 39" shaft . need to get a flange yet and dial in the height then measure for one .

I think this is what I have under my ‘90 Blazer. I was always curious what they were.

so looking over the ebay link you provided @iwaxmyjimmy the pics show what looks like a smaller center pilot hole than what jesse / rugby_7 said is the 3 1/8" pilot size needed .

do you have any more info on this ? the length looks perfect for what we need and prob no length change . just trying to make sure .

maybe @obijuank5 has some info also ?
