Theres a guy at our training center with a '92 Lincoln and he's trying to drop the tranny but its stuck to the back of the block. I haven't looked at it but he swears everything is disconnected and all of the bellhousing bolts are removed, torque converter unbolted, and nothing in contact with the firewall or floorboard. he's gone as far as trying to hammer a chisel between the block and bell housing, putting a jack on a crossmember and pushing on it. I think he must have a bellhousing bolt still in it but he swears they're all out. Anyone have any ideas? Are there internal bolts in the bellhousing? A bent guide pin?

I had a similar issue with a friends 91 f150, turns out, the torque converter was bolted to the flywheel, and since all we had was backyard tools we couldn't get the angle right, so the trans was binding up on the TC shaft... oops

He's got to have a bolt still in then. With all of them out, the trans should seperate fairly easily. Is the starter still on? IIRC they bolt to the bellhousing on most Fords, that could be holding it up.

He said the TC is unbolted because he can spin it and push it back from the flexplate.

He can push it back and spin it??Ford converters have studs and it wont push back far enough to spin if the bell is still on the block.

I have done alot (like thousands) of Ford trannys and I have never once had one that stuck that didnt have one more bolt in it :D

It would still come loose from the block. But you might have some issues getting it all the way out with tose wires still hooked to it :haha:

Yeah, i'm pretty sure he's still got a bolt in it too. I've never had a trans hang up like this without a bolt still in it. I just thought i would ask:rolleyes:
