Found a CUCV for sale down the road from me today, here are the specs it had on windshield:

1985
6.2L Diesel
rebuilt 400 (w/6mo warranty)
didn't say tranny but 99% sure it's a 208
D60/14Bff both with detroits and 4:56
84,000miles
$3500

didn't notice any dents or major rust on it from the fence I was looking thru, but I believe this is the same CUCV i was bidding on in an auction near me about a year ago. I know he damn sure didn't pay anything near $3500 for it:wink1:

I'll get some pics tomorrow and post them. gonna call him and see what's the least he'll take. before he rebuilt tranny I think he got it for $1700

Not sure if you are asking a question but I just bought a 1985 cucv with 6.2/400/208 14bff/d44 detroit locker in the rear. Body was banged up and it need a serious break job. I got it for $1000. I'm pulling the axles and tranny/t-tase and putting in my blazer along with the sweet A$$ bumpers. I sold the motor for $300 before I ever bought the truck.

Pickup or Blazer?

If it's a Blazer they're just half tons with 3.08's and a Gov-Bomb in the rear.

Pickups would have a Detroit in the rear only and some of the heavy duty ones had a Dana limited slip in the D60. Someone might have swapped a Detroit into the front though.

$3500 sounds good if it's in the shape you say and starts and goes.

not asking a question figured I'd let y'all know in case somebody is really looking for one. It says detroits front and rear. And I believe it's what it came with cuz I got my buddy run the numbers before I bid on it at the auction and it came back 4:56 with detroits in each:D

CUCV's never got Detroits in both ends. The pickups only got them in the rear and only the 1028's and 1031's got the limited slips in the front end.

Anyone telling you otherwise is mistaken.

That's my friend told me. I guess he might i have meant the limited slip but I swear he told me Detroits in front and rear

Nope.

If you want to confirm it go over to www.SteelSoldiers.com and either ask or read the TSM's on the trucks.

My 1008 is open in the front...as was every single one I ever drove.

Huh, I guess somebody or dept put it in after then. So, how bout the 6.2L? I've never had one or drove one. Worth messing with or just trash it?

Good engine. Not a powerhouse but you'll never find a 350 or 454 that can get 15mpg around town without OD. Lotsa good info about them here and on http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com.

...and I repeat myself...before you consider the front Detroit a high point confirm that it infact does exist. The military wouldn't install anything like that for any myriad of reasons.

And neither would anyone looking to flip the truck for a quick profit...

got some pics this afternoon but my computer keeps telling me they're an invalid format:confused:. Anyway, It's not the one I bidded on at auction, but still very nice. And I was wrong, you were right. It's got an open D60 front:D called and left message with owner hopefully he'll call me back. Found no rust anywhere on body. Rocker panels and bed looks great. The seat of course is ripped up a little bit on drivers side, but who cares. Other than that, it's straight. No dents, flat paint.

Also, still had that circle plaque on front bumper that says 04? What's that? All the numbers on the front and rear bumper mean anything?

Unit markings and such. Nothing about the vehicle per say.

There should be a metal plate on either the d-side door jamb or door that is the military information about that vehicle. It will tell you which model the truck is. M1008, M1028, or M1028A1.
