I found a 1988 chevy long bed truck on craigslist that im interested in, the guy says its a 350 tbi. He says it will run but dies, What would cause a tbi 350 truck to do that. The guy said he put new plugs wires diterbitur cap rotor ignition modul and coil on it, and buy ignition module i think he means the thing under the distruibuter cap. The truck is $1000 or best offer im thinking about offering $500 for it. Do yall think it could be the ecm cause i have a spare one lying around. I want to use this truck as my dd/work truck if i get. let me know what yall think

Thanks

could be a lot of things. a fuel filter would be the best possible problem with it, but it could be the tbi is dirty, it needs to be rebuilt, the fuel pump is shot, the lines are clogged, and that's just a few things I can think of right off the top of my head

I Thought it might also be a fuel problem, I even have a spare 1988 single stud air cleaner throttle body lying around. That would be awsome if it was just a cloged fuel filter. Im prolly just guna go look at the truck in person soon.

That is a good way to determine if you want to try and fix it or not. The truck may not be worth the hassle

Could be the coolant temp sensor too. The 90 I bought did the same thing. It would start fine, then after 5 minutes or so it'd just die, and wouldn't re-start until it was dead cold again.
