My dad is a member of the local Historical Society and today I helped him take a pew from our church to the HS storage shed. This storage shed was donated by the owner of whom used to rent it to the GM dealer here in town. This dealership has been closed for some time now and the owner gave the HS the empty building for a tax write off. The HS uses it to store anything and everything antique.

Anyways, when we got there, dad backed his truck in and we unloaded the pew. I happened to look up at a poster stapled to the wall and immediately saw a blow up view of a K5 Blazer. When I went over to check it out, thats when I saw it was an advertisement poster for GM to install the Hickey Enterprises aftermarket stuff on the new Blazers from back in that era.

For those who don't know about HE or Vic Hickey, do a search and you will find a thread by a member here called "baja1000".

I asked dad if the HS had plans for the poster and he said no. I asked him if he minded that I removed it and took it home. I explained to him about HE and their history. His eyes immediately got big when I mentioned Steve McQueen as he is dads favorite actor of all time, next to Eastwood. So he got his pocket knife out and helped pull the staples out as the poster was very, very brittle and was tearing easily.

Does anyone have ideas how to save the poster from further cracking or tears? I was thinking of getting it laminated and framed. Ideas?

Now on to the pics...

That's way cool, is that a "low profile" hood in the pic? I have seen those axle trusses before but never knew where they came from.
very cool

Wow cool find Wes!!! I'd say have it Laminated and framed and put it up in the new shop!!

My crew cab has one of those trusses under it now and I had one of the Sidewinder winches on my '79 that I sold.

Do you have a good picture framer in your area? They could set you up right if you want to preserve and frame it.

Cheapest would be to just laminate it and keep it out of direct sunlight.

Yep, have it laminated and hang it up. Bad ass find man!!

I'd really like to Find a drop down steel hood like that!

I had a whole catalog of their stuff, think it got lost in a move once :(

The last page is that same blow-up, bit better condition and contrast.

There's some cool stuff there.

Also interesting to see some of the stuff that they were working on in the mid 70's that has been "rediscovered" in the past 10 or so years.

Yeah Ithought about those But I really want steel me and Fiberglass dont get along

Does that say 43-gallon fuel tank? I wonder where the extra volume is. That could be handy.

It's just bigger, goes lower. Someone else made a similar tank. I believe Desert Rat on here has one of the later tanks.

You could also take a digi pic of the poster and email it to a place like photoworks and they could make a new poster and have it laminated. So you wouldn't be dealing with old paper anymore.

Cool poster by the way!!!
