powertrax no slip, same design as a detriot, almost identical from what i can see

One immediate difference I see between the powertrax and detroit is on the powertrax the springs are between the "coupler" and "driver" as they are called in the diagram you posted. This helps the two parts seperate (read. open diff). Detroits have springs on the outside (pressing between the carrier and the backside of the coupler). I am not saying which performs better but from a design standpoint the powertrax would seem to want to stay unlocked much more than a detroit to me.

my brother said someone he knew with a powertrax is now a peg leg because of a shim or something, probably didnt set it up right

i agree with this one.

Dude branndon that thnig is freaking sweet. Now you make me want to put a big block in my blazer. I keep telling myself I dont need that right now but it does look convincing. What did you do to that caddy motor?

Regarding the "pegleg" issue, it's quite obvious that you either do not have the Powertrax installed correctly or something else isn't correct. It should quickly and easily lock whenever torque is applied through the driveshaft and only unlock when coasting.

You did reinstall those little shim type things that fit between the stock side gears and carrier, didn't you?

I believe the installation manual has a whole list of tests and measurements you can take to make sure everything is working correctly.

It should work when you hammer the gas. I have a detroit in the rear and when i spin the tires they are locked and carry it sideways going down the road. I have not dealt with the power trax before but it doesn't seem right that it doesn't hold together. With the torque your motor puts out you should be able to spin the tires really easy. If you have the funds for it i recommend you getting the pro-street iron heads from cad company. I put them on mine and you can really tell the difference in the performance.
