Found the holy grail of pitman arms

Nice padding!:D
sounds like you have some good info so pad away till you hit 15

Looks like they might fit a standard GM TRE. A DLE is too big, so it will obviously need to be reamed if you're going that route.

Good info but does a GM TRE fit or not?

I don't have any TREs to check at the moment (I'm doing a lot of suspension modification and rebuilding my axles before I get to the steering, and I ditched my 1/2 tons a while ago). I have the major and minor diameter of the taper if someone wants to figure that out for me, I'll go check. Otherwise I'll just handle it in a couple weeks when I buy ends and tube for my steering links.

I haven't decided what ends I want to run yet. I'd rather use all right-hand TREs so that I only need one set of spares and they'll be stronger. I'm thinking that I'm going to be stuck with DLEs though due to suspension travel and needing the angle capability. I'd run custom TRE-style ends like ORD makes, but I'd rather use parts I can get here locally for a couple reasons. I want to be able to buy parts like that anywhere, seeing as I'll probably drive this truck up the AlCan a few times. Also, the local Vato-Zone sells lifetime warranties on their TREs and DLEs. I've already warrantied a steering pump through them and it was totally worth going through them for that reason.

I don't like padding. :)

I hear ya on the local home grown parts. Its nice to know that AZ or Napa has the part you need for the roadside fix. It's hard to get ORD to overnight FEDEX a package to mile marker 209 on I-80.:haha:

Stuff like chromoly shafts is one thing. You can still junkyard the right part, it just wont be as pretty and stout as the upgrades. But custom suspension and steering parts are to get in a bind unless you buy spares beforehand.

Funny, I live just off 80 when I'm not at home...we don't have interstates in Alaska so it was weird when I moved to Reno that I could hop on a road and follow it to the other side of the continent. My style of building definitely caters to easily obtainable parts. Long trips to Moab or Alaska are not times I want to be rush ordering parts. It either needs to be stupid strong, repairable, or easy to obtain. I guess that comes from growing up wheeling in Alaska where mail-order isn't an option most of the time.

What kind of angles can the ORD TREs handle? I wonder if it would be worth it to run them on my draglink and carry standard TREs for spares. They would probably get me home in a pinch.

I just remembered my high-steer arms are already reamed. I'll take a caliper to them when I get home from class and see if they have the same dimensions as the pitman arm. I'll just update it in the first post so that all the info is in one place.
Does anyone have any experience running a doubler behind a 700r4? That's the tranny I'd really like to build for my project but I've read there isn't really any support for it in the sense of t-case doublers. Kinda makes me want to build my own, but for the prices out there, I don't think it's worth doing yourself in most cases.
You should talk to Stephen @ ORD. He runs a 700R with a doubler, and that's all behind a 500+ cu in big block.
