Wanted to share some picts. of the ole K5 after 4 years of wheelin'. From the beginning this was meant to be a trail only rig for my family.

Here is what it looked like when I got it. Yeah it looked ok from the outside but the whole interior was complete rust.

After sitting for a few months I started tearing it apart. Out came the whole interior, in went angle & tubing to create a new floor and roll cage.

After the paint and everything else it looked good and performed well.

Here is as she sit yesterday, put some working shocks on, and did some fluid stuff to get ready for Labor Day trails. Over the four years the bed sides were trashed and replace with fabbed sides, fuel tank was bashed and replaced with a fuel cell, several tie rods and a busted windshield.
Specs:
350/350/203
10b traclock /12b lockright discs, 4.88
38.5 Gumbo Mudders, Hillbilly Turbines
10K ramsey, front & rear double receivers
Full roll cage, CJ rear seat,
Ford Fiesta buckets,

Nice. The 10b/12b holding up pretty well to the 38's?

Actully they have, the gearing helps drivability abunch. Although I wear size 14, I don't have a heavy foot.....The only front failure was a lockout but turned out the lock out wasn't engaged all the way and tore the teeth off the inter gear. BB

The wheels came with the truck when I bought it but they are cast, fairly light, strong wheels.

When the axles were under my previous shortbed I broke an occasional stub shaft or hub, this K5 is alittle lighter. My view point is I've seen D60's break stuff too. I do have 1 tons ready to go into this or another project though.

Hey, you dont need 1 tons or big tires to wheel. Put her in the dirt and have fun thats what its about.

Those wheels are cool. I think they're referred to as "turbines". SkyyK5 has a set on his Blazer. They're really hard to find I've been told.

For some reason in that first pic, the rims look like 16.5's.

I know there were some aftermarket aluminum rims made in 16.5's with 5 and 6 lug patterns.

They just look different. I'm betting they're 16.5's.

Hey what did you use up front to protect the motor? is that sheet metel or something else?

Dude, I like that the seats came out of a ford fiesta. Those things ruled. I had a 78, and beat the piss out of it. Nice truck.

Believe it or not, its galvanized pole barn sheet metal 22 ga. It got a couple of forms for strength, weighs next to nothing and cuts with some shears. I needed something to keep the snow out the first winter and had it sitting around, came across it.

Nope, just 15 inchers, but you're right they look different wrapped around the BFG's....

your right, but I believe he broke one of them not too long ago

Nice rig transformation. Looked good to start with, but functionality is more important now, right!

As far as the rims, I had a set about 10 years ago on my rig, 15 x 8's. Sold them and kicked myself for doing it because they were different, kind of old school. Came across another set about 2 years ago, but in 15 x 10's. I was going to use them on my next rig, but they won't work since I am going to 3/4 ton axles (44 and 14) this winter on the '84 Blazer. Now I have to decide to hold onto them and possibly kick myself down the road again, or get rid of them to help pay for the 16" Dick Cepek DC 1's I been eyeing up.

I have had those wheels 3 times one set was 6 lug 16.5x9.75 next set was 8 lug 16.5x11.75 and the third set was 6 lug 15x8. I have always liked them. The first 2 sets were plain cast look with polished ribs(like the General Lee). The last set, I painted the cast part, gun metal gray and polished the ribs. The ones on the A-Team van I belive was black with polished ribs. I have also seen them painted to match the body color of the cars they where on.
