Hopefully the magazine will improve as a whole with him gone! He was really dragging it down.

There's a lot of good people over there, guys. Look forward to the magazine improving drastically now that he's gone.

All he talked about was his racing backround, so I asked him if he ever had a 4x4.

His answer? "We always had a Jeep on the farm."

"So did you ever build anything?"

"Not exactly"

Thank God he's history. Bring a young new guy in. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Like Robin Stover.
 
If they're owned by Primedia do not expect any great changes. B/c you'll only be let down.

I don't subscribe either, but I might now that he's gone.

They have some great people over there but the editor was ruining it.

I have a subscription, I haven't even opened the last three issues... same ol' crap over and over.
 
I'd be surprised if things got any better. Forget if it was fourwheeler or petersens, but I was reading about a blue torch fabworks diff cover they got to test and in the article they said they took it to a 4x4 shop to have the shop install it. Good lord, my dog fritz could install a diff cover and these guys had a shop do it. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

yeah I noted they didn't even install the BTF cover /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I subscribed to XOM will see how it is.
 
You guys are forgetting that these mags come from Kommifornia.

There's probably 3,000 laws that apply if they get a drop of gear oil on the floor, it's probably not even worth it!

I have met and wheeled with jon thompson and he is an extremly nice guy.
I dont know his background that well in the magazine but I do know that this will probably screw one of my good friends that is suposed to have a feature coming up in the mag in a couple of months /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

does anyone know why he got let go ?

he is also the only editor of any offroad magazine that lives out of state from the headquarters in LA so maybe they got tired of not being able to keep a close enough leash on him. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
 
How about the fact that he doesn't build trucks and he drove the mag into the ground to the point that I don't even subscribe anymore.

i think the new extreme offroad mag is gonna be way better. we'll see, but primedia owning everything is kinda poopy. They killed the only really good rag they ever had (4x4 power) and other than their graphic-art design the mags are identical. Whats worse, over the last 6 months or so they have had the same stuff in them. Its like you go out to your mailbox and fourwheeler is there... on the cover it says "we drive the new powerwagon!!"... two days later you open up your mailbox and petersens is in there... and it says "we drive the new powerwagon!!!". kinda lame imo.
