Hey all, I read in a post somewhere on here the 2500 burbs have a taller frame then the 1500's? If so are they essentially 1 ton frames?

Might depend on which year, but there was no difference between my 90 4wd 1500 and 90 2wd 2500. Holes were drilled in different locations in front and may be formed slightly different, but without pulling out the tape and protractor, I couldnt tell you how far off. Unfortunately I dont have the 2500 anymore, so I cant go get the measurements for ya.

But then again, I could be way off and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am.

Well when I get some cash flow coming in I was considering a suburban. I would like to get a 91 2500 diesel and I think they came with a 4l80e 4x4. Im guessing it would fall under the 88 2500 specs.

With the thicker frame, are still prone to the dreaded steering box weakness?

I would say that's a "yes" to all the Q's in that post. The thicker frame helps, but it'll still crack with abuse and big tires. I'd still recommend the bolt-on brace. It's kinda hard to find the '91s though. Just not very many around, it seems.:doah:
