Though my efforts to secure parts not available thru LMC and Brothers, I had a few members comment my frame and body don't seem to match. My VIN # plate on the door jamb says it is a 1977 but the frame seems to be newer. Made a cursory search and only found the numbers:

"379334"
"7 017"

These numbers were stamped into the frame on both sides directly under the driver and passenger seat. I ran a mirror along the frame rail tops but couldn't immediately see any numbers. There was, however, alot of dust and rust on top of the frame rails.

Any frame gurus out there know what I'm looking at or any idea where to specifically look for any ID numbers on this frame?

DAMN

I went and sanded down the passenger side rail top and acetoned it clean.

Found the VIN#

C7F159930

The last 8 digits of that number match my VIN. Maybe it is a matching frame.

The "C" is obviously for Chevy. The frame # is missing 4 numbers from the door jamb VIN - CKR187F159930

Those numbers ID the vehicle as a 4x4 (letter K), 400ci Engine (letter R), 1/2 ton (number 1), Utility Body Style (number 8).

looks like the 2 match. I don't know why anyone would put GM's crappy ass RWAL system in an older truck. Maybe they thought they needed to when they switched the 14 bolt. Is that axle a full or semi ?

It is Full Float.

Excuse my ignorance but... "RAWL"

Sorry Is RWAL, official from gm rear wheel anti lock. I actually went to GM school on this crap back in the day. Might even have the text book on shelf some where.

Well, the body is veritable hodge podge. I have zero idea why the ABS system in on there. It will be thrown away once I get the engine out.
