Frame problems

I recently bent the frame on my Blazer, and was wondering if it would be okay to cut a piece of another and weld it in. I don't take it off road much, and when I do its mild. I have limited funds, and need advice on whether I should do that, or have the frame straightened, the former being the cheaper option. Any help would be appreciated.

Bent it on a rock wall after hydroplaining, and its bent in 2 or 3 spots, the drivers side wheel touching the fender when I turn.

don't have a pic as its already at the shop, but i was curious as to how well a welded frame would hold, and whether it would crack or not.

it'll hold, howdo ya think they build tubeframes? it isnt 1200 continuous feet of tube bent all purdy... but why cut a part of a frame and reweld it, a straightening and alignment is prob cheaper and def stronger...

I talked to a few frame shops, and are willing to even put it on the machine for under 700, and I've heard as high as 1500. My buddy is willing to do the welding for 500, and seeing as it needs a few minor things as well (rockers, lights, fender swap) i could use the extra cash. But I've heard some people say that the welds dont hold on 4x4's well, and some say it would be fine, so i was just curious about the input here.

700 bucks? around here thats almost 10hrs labor... find a flatrate shop.... it shouldnt cost more than 4 hours to straighten a frame and no more than 1.5 for an alignment or 3hrs for a full...
