Hello again,

Any idea why these would be like this? Maybe headers at some point. Maybe a big block install. Hell I don’t know. Strange.

holes in firewall are at the same height on both sides.

definitely a header hack at some point IMO...

That’s what I thought as well. Now the big holes in the firewall have me stumped. Anyone have any ideas?

Not sure... But I know if move all your plug wires lol.
Why they cut the frame where the cross member is, and why the cross member wasn't in at the time is what has me stumped.

The firewall damage is probably a hack job for a big block, as you have already guessed. I don't understand why so low on the passenger side, but as bad as it is overall, it follows suit.

Shoot a big block was designed to fit a squarebody, my 8.1 doesn't touch the firewall there. Looks like the firewall damage is from a hack that installed the last engine. Must have swung it in with some force and bounced it off the firewall a couple of times.

'72s never had a big block in 4wd from the factory. They won't fit in the factory engine crossmember location. It took some research and work to make mine clear without the common sledgehammer massage that I saw more than once.

Who knows really. I guess I will move on. Weird that someone would do that.

There I go assuming it was a square. Duh.

the crossmember looks like it wasnt there when the frame trimming happened, and the one that is in there now is bolted in? Supposed to be riveted right? Truck went to big block and back again? -the many many lives of a chevy...

I can’t figure it out. Seems odd someone would go through all that work just to then drop a 350sbc in it. On to the next project.
