The rear body mounts on my frame have rotted some and i would like to fix it before i put the body on. What is the best way to fix these mounts. Should i just weld in some extra metal around the area or should i graft a new section on to the frame

I'm in the same boat as you. I bought new frame rails to graft on, but I'm just going to weld on some straps on top to reinforce the current frame. I decided that the trouble of cutting frame and realigning new one wasn't worth it because only the top area of the frame where the mounts went through was rotted thin. The sides and bottom are still good.

Good luck with yours!!

I got mine fixed now, I decided against grafting in the new frame section, I went with patching the old one. I used a piece of 1/4" L iron (3" wide by 1.5 deep) and bolted it through good metal over top of the rotten section. Then I drilled the new hole for the body mount. Worked like a charm.

If you want pics, send an email to [email protected], and I'll send one of the fix.

Cheers,

Evan.
