Being in NJ my frame is pretty rusted. I have contemplated trying to repair it, having it blasted, welded and painted. I found one online not to far from me that has already been through the process of blasting and paint. I'm just wondering what one weighs to be sure that me and a friend can load it into his truck if everything checks out. If no one knows the weight, input on two guys being able to handle it would be appreciated as well. Maybe 3 guys if the current owner is capable.

Two guys can lift it if it's stripped. I can lift one end and drag it around the yard myself.

Realize that is COMPLETELY stripped. Anything that bolts to it, removed.

Loading it in a truck? I assume you have that figured out. I've got an 8' "bed" trailer, with probably 4' of tongue, and to be able to turn there was a significant amount of frame hanging off the back of the trailer.

I can get a decent length measurement if you need it.

Thats an easy one. It took me 3 guys to move a long bed frame with a cab on it. That was on a hill into my garage...

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure. As for the length, I am figuring around 15'. you think 7' hanging out of a truck bed is to much?!

I picked up my stripped K10 frame by myself last weekend and walked with it. Ideally I would put a dolly under one end and walk the other but it was over a gravel area.

It's pretty easy to move with a friends help though.

It's more than 15', probably closer to 18' if I had to guess. Assuming a K10 frame length is the same.

I would have to take your word for it right now. I searched online and saw something like 180". I'll double check when I get home.

Even still 10' hanging out...no biggie.

I don't think anything is too much, as long as it's legal (marked if necessary, strapped down, etc) and secured good enough that you don't lose it!

Guy I bought one frame from took pictures of it loaded up before I left, I assumed at the time it was so that he couldn't be sued if something happened as I was transporting it lol.

I agree, strapped/weighted right and marked well, you should be OK.

When I sold one of my other frames, we loaded it into the back of another squarebody and strapped it down. Didn't stick too far out and was easy to do with two people.

Won the frame on Ebay for $0.99. Needs a little work but far better then mine. Ended up renting a 12' u haul to get it home. The length is about 15'.

99 cents ?.......geesh,you cant even buy a paint brush to paint one at the dollar store for 99 cents..that has to be the deal of the decade..its even already cleaned & painted...:tongue1:

he had it sandblasted primered and painted. As for the deal, all in with the trailer, tolls, gas and buying my buddy lunch for helping, I was still under $100. He had the frame on craigslist for 500 I sent an email and offered 200. to which he responded that it was on ebay and I could probably get it cheaper then the 200. his starting bid was .99 and I was the only bidder.

Holy smokes..... that makes me want to start searching ebay for sano cabs :weld: That has to be the ebay deal of the century.

The guy also has a complete, single piece, rear floor with the cab supports attached from the factory for an 86 k5. He was asking 300 for it tried to get it for the last 145 I had on me and he would let it go.

After I sand, convert and re-prime the spots where the paint has scratched off and rusted. What is a good product to paint the whole frame with? I have been reading some of the posts and Por 15 seems to be something to consider but reading some more it seems that it doesn't last. @ryoken, hope you don't mind me calling you out but you seem to be the most informative on this type of thing and you know what I'm up against in the glorious state of NJ.

ok, my attention is had... can you explain again exactly at what state you are at, coatings already applied, issues needing resolved, etc...

The guy I got the frame from told me it was already blasted primed and painted. With what, I don't know. there are some spots that have been scratched/chipped and have some rust. Based off reading some of your responses to similar posts, I plan to sand and apply a rust converter. Not sure what is best to use after that. Also, being in NJ, is there something that may help protect the entire frame any better then just primer and paint that I can apply over the existing paint? Is POR 15 worth it? I believe you referred to it as snake oil! and people say it can peels off in a couple years. Not looking for a miracle. Just looking to do what I can while it is all accessible.
