Anyone know if the frame widths are the same?
Im trying to fit one of the larger mount-behind-axle tanks in.

Here's what I got so far:

82-91 Suburban
Capacity: 40 Gallons/151 Liters
Dimensions: 35 X 28-3/8 X 13-1/8 inches

31 gallon size:
Capacity: 31 Gallons/118 Litres
Dimensions: 28-3/4 X 28-1/8 X 12-3/4 inches

92-96 suburban
Capacity: 42 Gallons160 Liters
Dimensions: 29-3/4 X 33-1/2 X 13-1/8 inches Includes the lock ring and gasket for the sending unit.

The confusion is of course, that Chuck's chevy page says that in the rear of the C/K body in the pre 88's were about 42" wide- and I recall them saying that they widened the frame in the newer bodies to put the gas tank inside the fram rail.

Any measurements would be greatly appreciated!

the new frames are MUCH wider than the old ones. I guess I will go measure my 97 for you. Guess the size isn't as dramatic as I felt but it surely seems it compared to my other trucks. Outside to outside is like 45 1/2" right below the cab

Well, I know my 92 is significantly wider than my 87 k5. that I can already tell just by the hitch!

Now, if you have a 97 burb, that would help a lot!!!!

nope, but I have access to one /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif will try and go measure it yet tonight.
