Heyy!!! I rescued a K5 from ‘87 from wasting away in front of a buddy’s house after it had been sitting there for around 4-5 years, and I’m finally ready to dive into it. I met a bunch of y’all working the counter at O’Reilly’s in Moab a few weeks ago at Blazer Bash and got fully inspired to send this project and join this blazer homies. Anyway, I’m gonna need help, advice, and emotional support, any and all appreciated in advance!!

my first question is does anyone else have their solenoid mounted to the firewall Ford style orrrrr just me?

Welcome. I'm the guy who was looking for a steering box on Saturday.

If you go to the "driveway build" section of the forum and start a build thread, people will pile on with answers to your questions.

You should not need a remote solenoid if everything else is correct.

Were you the one that grabbed my son and showed him the K20 you had out back? We were there at the same time as Wade getting some lugnuts for my spare. He took me out back to check it out too. Nice truck!

Post up some pics of the K5 too. We want to see.

Hey, I talked to you! I had the power steering pulley and and tool rental.

Stock solenoid here, the nice thing about the ford style solenoid is that it makes it easier to start when you lose your keys.
