My hooker headers were showing some serious signs of age. I went cheap the first go around and got the hooker competition headers and sprayed them. Paint lasted about a day. I lived with it. But my buddy had a set of headers that he had ceramic coated about 5 years ago. They were never fired up. He had them laying in the back of his blazer that sat in a tow yard for 5 years or so. He said I could have them , but thought they wouldnt fit, might hit the frame or something like that.

I figured Id give it a shot. if they didnt work out , Id just sell them and get some others. Better to try the free route first. lol

Anyways. We are not sure what brand they are, but he believes they are Heddman, so not really sure. Anyways, they fit way better than the ones I took out. They went in very easily and I had no issues. The pass. side is shorter than the ones I took out, so Ive got a date with the muff shop on sat for them to tidy up my exhaust. The drivers side fit with no problems, hmm weird. oh well.

Here are some pics I took while installing them:

Pass. side installed

Drivers side compared to the old one I took out. Hmm, I thought the collector was a bit bigger, oh well, itll get choked down, lol.

If you look at the top header, the one I took off. the tube going to the furthest back towards the firewall always hit the trans linkage and that always bugged me, but now the new header doesnt come in contact with anything. It clears the frame and the shackles by a mile. What is funny, both headers drop down the same height and are the same length, but the pic is disceiving <sp?>

Only fired it up for about 10seconds. Its still OPEN header right now. got appointment on Sat. to get the rest completed, then ill check and see.

You have my attention. I am about to swap my entire exhaust and have been Summit shopping headers for about 3 weeks now - I can only decide on two specs - Ceramic coated and ball n socket flange - The rest is still open range.

It appears that you went from a 2.25 collector to a 3 inch. The new ones are beefy - Nice.....

What's the gage on your intake monitoring ?

......deceiving.......:waytogo:

Be sure to post up once you have the system sealed again - I'm curious as to temp drop as well...

The lil gauge on the fuel rail is fuel pressure gauge

The bigger gauge is vacuum for tuning the carb

Back from the muff shop. It was about 10miles or so back home, so the truck was good and warmed up. Once I parked, I let it run and opened the hood. I guess its a lil cooler in there. Not like I could touch the headers, lol. So we shall see. I mainly just wanted to replace the crappy ones I had and these were free, so there you have it.

I did notice when installing these that even with ceramic coating, they were lighter than the ones I took off. It was a noticable difference.

I have Jet-Hot on the swap headers in my S-10. The long tube header for my 2.5 that was in there was coated also. It dropped temps by a metric buttload, not actually measured.

the new headers look like flowtech.

did you have a problem with the pass side hitting the bump stop bracket or was yours already trimmed for your old headers

I never trimmed anything with either header.

The ones I took off , I had a problem with the pass. side hiting the back shackle.

The new ones cleared everything, it was a perfect fit. I do wish my buddy knew who made them so I could pass it on, plus if I ever need another set, lol

Holy fock me running sideways.... I tell ya - One of my two choices in the final count down was the 890s.....

W A S ...... :doah:

I think I'll be dropping the dime on the 830s - And send em off for powder intsead.

Thanks so much for your response - I posted a thread asking about headers and got.....next to nothing, and nothing much actually helpful. You just provided all the answers in one link.

 THANKS
