saved this stuff from going to a scrap yard and some other parts for a hydraulic setup. just need get a rebuild kit, some clutch pedal brackets, an sye+brake and a flywheel and I can ditch the auto. man, I love free stuff!!!
You'd cry if you could see the COMPLETE GM trucks I see being hauled to the crusher--FILLED with parts like the pictures above!..they are scrapping anything and everything around here since scrap prices went over 100 bucks a ton..one yard I go to once had over 110 70's and 80's GM trucks..now I can count them on ONE HAND!..and the ones private owners are finally parting with are the ones filled with parts that are being junked!..wish I could intercept a few of them before the scrapyard got them..
a friend of mine owns a 4x4 shop, hes a one man show and mostly does 91 and down chevys. Across the street is a junk yard that crushes alot of cars, if he sees a chev 4x4 across the street he tries to save what he can from them.
I know one guy had piles upon piles of front-ends, rear-ends, and cast-iron transfer cases(np20x's, dana's, and rockwells) that he scrapped. which I didn't know he had 'em until it was too late.
If the guy your referring to lives in Lunenburg--he lives almost across from my sister..he had a whole yard full of parted out 4x4's of all makes piled up !..I noticed his ramp truck hasn't moved in a few years, and his yard is pretty much barren now..I know another guy from Ashby that had tons of stuff too,but I think he's still selling it in the "Want ad" book and online..seems a lot of guys just decided to toss everything lately, rather than go to swap meets and sell it anymore..--its getting harder every day to find parts for older trucks..
