Radio Shack is excessing all their inventory of 8.5' fiberglass whip antenna's, part number 21-905 for a cost of $0.00 head on over and get one for yourself.

hmm, all the shacks i went to that week had the price listed at $0.00 and it is a central computer pricing system, so if one charges that price, they all do. Perhaps the salesperson was BS'ing you. I have heard from other people that the managers refuse to give something away and charge a small price, but i personally never encountered that.

Well i got 3 Fiberglass antennas for 3.50 each and got one SS one for 3.50. i think i can live with that.

I went to the RS by my house and they didnt have any but a store across town did so I went to that store and asked about them and at first they couldnt find them (they had 2) but then they did and the manager said he couldnt sell them cause if they were listed as $0.00 (whcih they were) he was supposed to send them back to the outlet. But I told him I drove all the way across town to get the antenna so he agreed to sell it to me for $4. So I bought both of the ones they had and bought a ball mount and spring for mine and am gonna sell the other one to my friend. Not the price I was hoping for but it all worked out in the end /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Cleaned out my local store, they had three left, and didn't pay a dime. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif The manager told me they are phasing out cb equipment.

Pretty soon Radio Shack will need to change their name to just Shack. All of the things you used to be able to find at radio shack seem to be getting "phased out".

SS ones are 14 bucks still... hehe

Got other adapters and such for a penny as well.

The guy says he'll put aside all the CB stuff as they do inventory, but he suspects that since nobody has come in to want this stuff for the past 10 years, he doubts anyone will!

Sometimes its good to live in NYC... nobody wants this stuff! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

hmm...the one of the local shacks here said they have no plans to get rid of any of their CB stuff...of course, I haven't seen a whip style antenna in there in a few years. All they carry now is the mirror mount kit and the replacement fiberglass antennas for them. They still carry ball mounts & springs and about everything else. Sometimes it pays to live in the South. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Most radcraps keep the whip antennas in the back. They're alittle big for desplay.

I have a 20' fiberglass antenna off a marine cruiser. I forget the name but its for a selected range 157.5-159 something like that.
It sat at the place my uncle works for like 2 years, it was sent to them buy misteak, they where going to toss it so he tied it to the side of his ranger and brought it out. it was a couple feet past the front and rear of a ranger, so 20-22', steel base and it uses a CB type connector and a BNC fitting.

Thats a high gain co-linear type antenna for Marine VHF.
It will not work on 27 MHz (CB) /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah I figured, I priced it and got specs online once and it was like $780 and only hits a couple frequencies /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

damn wish i would have known about this sooner, i guess thats what i get for not checking this site often enough, will have to stop by and see if the local one has any left.
