my roommate Andrew Kidd has been invited to participate in the Octane Challenge - Vote for him here
see the info below.
quote from the site:
The rules are simple - only the best and fastest cars need apply. Willow Springs International Raceway, "the fastest road in the west", will play host to the OR's own Octane Challenge. We'll be judging the entrants based on popularity, looks and outright speed in our time trial competition. Fast lap during the day counts for 75% of the win and your fan base right here at The Octane Report counts for the other 25%. The winner will recieve a free guaranteed spot in our display booth at the 2009 SEMA Show and free entry into the Super Lap Battle time attack finals event at Buttonwillow Raceway.

He has been racing since before he had his drivers license, he started out karting and has since been honing his skills and building his turbocharged miata and now has recorded some of the fastest times around.
He has done this entire build up on a limited college budget, he has has acquired some sponsors to donate parts and has financed the rest himself.
