Can anyone point me to a site that might be able to help my buddy out? He's got a 2wd, 75 GMC dually that experiences death wobbles at about 80 MPH. Yes, I told him a 75 GM dually was never built to go 80, but, he's owned it for years and it never Wobbled before.

All the front end is new, new steering box, alum. Weld rims, he's tried several sets of tires.

I've never heard of DWs on a 2wd  and I've got three 2wd 1 tons with about 200K miles on each.

HELP!!!

Thanks,

Eric M.

At first I thought death wobble didnt happen on 2 wheel drives but for some reason a couple of my work trucks (99 or newer F-350's) have been getting it really bad and at freeway speeds none the less. All I know is that its cause by bad harmonics in the front end. Not sure how to fix it on a 2 wheel drive other than making sure everything in the front end is in good working order and if that dosent work try adding a steering stabalizer.

tires? radial or bias?
also any severe chopping or possible belt bad. not real comon anymore but i would not second guess on a dually 1ton.

play in the steering box ?

possible rotor cracked or brake hanging up.

and is it in the steering wheel ? = frt problem

or in the floor or seat? = rear problem.

play in the steering box ? It's a new AGR box (hmmm, I'll have him double check it)

possible rotor cracked or brake hanging up. I'll ask him about the brakes. He's known for putting all his money into going fast and none into stopping! Could be a place to look.

and is it in the steering wheel ? = frt problem It's the front / steering wheel problem. He put it on a Dyno up to 120 MPH and no vibrations.

or in the floor or seat? = rear problem.

Thanks,

are the shocks good? if they're new, are they cheap shocks?
