I installed an add-a-leaf in the front of a stock 3-leaf pack in my old blazer. It stiffened it up a lot and made it ride like crap. I gained a total of about 1.5" of lift with a 350 engine and 180lbs of winch and bumper up front.

Is your truck an 88 like your name says? If so, you don't have front leaf springs, the only way to get 8 inches out of the IFS is a 6 inch kit plus cranking the torsion bars, or 6 inch kit plus 2 inch body. Just incase your truck is an 88 3/4. If not, disregard this comment.
