I've seen a picture here somewhere that shows what each diff looks like. Can someone provide a link or I'd my diff's?

Rear axle is a corporate 12 bolt and front is a corporate 10 bolt. Rear is 30 spline axles and front is 28 spline.

What are your thoughts on those diffs? I'm currently running 33's. It's a street truck used for advertising my business. I do live in WI so winter driving can be complicated by snow. What are your thoughts on spools or lockers both front and rear? Yes I do know that equipment would be overkill for my driving conditions but it's still an off-road truck at heart. Plus it looks better at time of resale if and when that becomes necessary.

Finally I plan to change out the gears. This truck is geared too high currently (not sure what's in it) but was thinking 4.10:1 or 4.56:1. Any gear brand recommendations or ratios?

For snowy roads, I would lean towards a limited slip rather than a locker. Those axles will be fine for street use with 33" tires. Do you have an OD transmission? That affects what you want for gear ratio.

I'm not an expert and the pictures are poor quality, but looking at the guide I believe my front diff is a Dana 44.

Look at the triangular "ears" on the bottom edges of the diff. It's an 8.5". Covers are a bit different front and rear, but definitely a 10 bolt. Can't mistake those triangles.

Neither is better than the other in any case, don't feel slighted.

Anyway, I do not have overdrive. How much difference does this make on the gear ratio selection?

Also, my transfer case has 3 options for stick position; I assume the positions are neutral, high and low. However the plate around the stick shows high loc, high, neutral, low and low loc. I'm guessing that either the trans case or the stick trim piece was swapped out but not sure which. Any thoughts on what trans case might be there?

3 positions isn't an option for any tcase. The minimum will be 4HI, 4LO, N, and 2H.

Without overdrive, you have to gear higher than you can with it. For 33" tires and 60 mph highway speed I'd recommend 4.10 gears without overdrive, 4.56 with overdrive.

Ok 4.10:1 it is. Makes sense! As far as the transfer case goes, I must be doing something wrong then. This my 5th stick operated trans case vehicle.
I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong but I guess I am. I can only find neutral, high 4 and low 4. What (per the floor trim plate) should be between neutral and hi loc and lo loc does not engage. It makes the standard trans case noise that you hear when in between selections. I do have manual hubs up front. I've also read about part time conversion kits for NP 203 cases. I'll get some pics up and check for some data plates but it looks like a 203. Speedo cable on driver side(I just replace it 2 weeks ago).

If the 203 was converted to part time, I think it still has 5 positions. 4HI, 4LO, N, 2HI, 2LO. But I'm not sure on that.

A np203 with the part time will have 5 positions, from the dash to the seat will be 4lo 2lo N 2hi 4hi.

NP203 right? So here is the run down. As mentioned before the case only works in 3 positions. H Loc, L Loc and neutral. When trying to use the positions between either loc and neutral, whines and groans. Briefly, on 1 or 2 occasions, the case stayed engaged and worked in H and L. However, it almost always just whined and groaned. I feel I should also mention that there is not much to feel when trying to select H and L. When selecting both Loc positions it engages very positively. Maybe better described as, I can feel through the stick that I have properly selected the loc positions. Can someone help me understand why this is happening? Possible some worn internal parts?
