I snapped an axel, so i am having all axels replaced and a detroit in the rear installed. I mentioned an ARB air locker for the front and the guy said it would break everything and make it hard to turn. It is a daily driver, but i was under the assumption that if i disengaged it, the truck would drive normal. help me please

Your right. He's wrong.

You can run a regular locker like a Detroit in the front as well. It won't affect you if the 4wdr. is dissenguaged or the locking hubs are dissenguaged.

i dont have locking hubs. I heard with the detroit in the front it will jump when i make turns.

So doing a front locker makes just as much if not more since than doing a expensive ARB set-up on the front. Cool!

ARB's have the advantage uf unlocking while in 4wdr. This makes it easier to steer and easier on parts when in 4wdr. You only lock it when needed. I have a friend that runs one and he likes it. I like the reliability of my Detroits.

There's certainly opinions for both. Neither are a bad choice, but your type of wheeling might make your decision for you. I have not heard about any reliability issues for either ARB or Detroits.

Like mentioned, the ARB makes it easier to steer, because you can unlock it. Or just go hydro assist and keep your foot out of it when turning.

I had a 44 w/ an ARB, and when I went 60, I went ARB again, just an opinion.
