front axel question

y do most front axels have the pumkin off to one side insted of the middle like the rear axels?

That's where the transfercase output has to be.

I suppose it could be in the middle, but then the transfercase front output would have to hang straight down...lowering ground clearance immensely.

The pic is backwards or you got a newer IFS tranny and tcase, and a furd front axle.
