What kind of axle is on the front of an '04 Wrangler? Dana 30? Will a D44/10b locknut tool work to take the hubs off on that too? It's my mom's Jeep and somehow she managed to break a u-joint (totally stock!?!). Is there a different socket if not?

The same tool will NOT work. The Wrangler has unitized hub bearings and therefore usually a regular hex-head style nut torqued really tight. I think it's usually around a 32 mm size *but I'm not sure exactly what size*.

It's metric though? I have a 3/4" Drive Ratchet with lots of big American size sockets.

1 3/8 will work but be real tight. I know i just done it If only the u joint dont take the nut off. Just take the 3 bolts that hold the hub on and slide the shaft and all out. then on the work bench put new u joint in. Just remember about the dust hat under the hub. I forgot to put it back on then when i put it on i had it turned the wrong way. I takes me about 5 minutes to tear that front end apart now. Bolts are 13mm 12 point. Brake bolts are 1/2 standard.
