Did a little more work to my front bumper this weekend.

damn thats nice, front/rear bumpers are high on my priority list, wish I could find a rear bumper with a swingout tire carrier
 
Nice work, is there any rattle issues with the spare tire? Need to do something with my stock spare tire carrier, its not to bad on paved roads but as soon as I get on dirt roads it can be a bit annoying.
 
Looks great! You even have storage for a gallon jug next to the winch! Good work on both bumpers! They look tough and I bet they could take a beating! I wish I could build one on the front like that, but being I have a burb, it would add more length. I can't have that. So, I'm getting bumpers from Kert. And because I don't have the skills!! Looks good though!!

I've seen Jeff's work first hand and he makes nice stuff. Those bumpers are burly as hell!

Spare tire itself doesn't rattle at all but the release pin does a little bit. Its not a big bother to me as the K5 rattles anyways. But as I start fixing said rattles I'll be addressing the pin rattle with some sort of bushing in the hole.

Even though he "copied" my bumpers I built. I don't know how many times Jeff called me for dimensions. :D It's all good though, at least we BUILT not BOUGHT them. :thumb:

Not sure how Jeff cut out his tube for the license plate but mine was done in a CNC mill. :thumb:

Looks like Jeff even went as far as to copy the way I used the factory license plate light (I used one on either side of the plate).
 
Well, I think a lot of us can only hope to "copy" that well some day...myself included.

My whole rear bumper is actually made of 5/16" freightliner frame rail material. Then I capped off the backside with 1/8" skin to fully enclose it. My license plate is actually bolted to the "skin" on the backside. So that recess is full depth of the channel. Yeah Scott I have 2 license plate lights on mine too. There just isn't the room to mount one from the top like some factory ones. I got my lights from an S10 Blazer (basically the same as the K5's). But mine is all CNC machined. Helps when I have access to one anytime I so see fit to use :) The top and bottom of the recess is boxed in (thats not just the top and bottom rail of the channel) along with the sides for the lights. The frame extension/clevis mounts Kert @ DIY4X did for me along with the spindle kit for the swing away.
 
Damn, I may have to come up with another way to recess mine. I saw somebody else cut their's with a cutting wheel and then press the tabs in until they could weld them to the back side. I may have to try that.
 
I just bolted mine to the face of the bumper, but I dont drive on the street so if its all beat it doesnt matter much long as my sticker is mostly intact :haha:

Looks good,

only issue i have with them, i have seen other vehicles with bumpers and grille guards on them that go up like that around the lights and whaveter, when something is hit, bumped decently or ran in to, it pushes that hole tube assembly back and smashes the fedners, busts out the grille, bends up the hood, maybe some headlight damage.

you bump something good enough with that stinger out there, you'll know what i'm talking about. :D
