what exactly do i need to do to get to this seal on the timing cover while its in the truck? i know i need a harmonic balancer puller but are there any other special tools i would need? can i do it without removing the timing cover? are there any exploded veiws of this precedure? cause that would be great!

A seal puller makes things a little easier, though it can be done with a screwdriver or two. I would go ahead and pull the timing cover to check the chain for slop if it's got some mileage on it. Otherwise just pull the balancer, switch the seal out and put the balancer back on.
