How bad can a front CV driveshaft joint get before it is unusable. I know you can replace the u-joints in it but I'm talking about the Ball/pivot point. Or can you always rebuild them. The old guy at the driveshaft shop says that they can't be rebuilt.

Luckily I have another shaft. The CV in it seems to be ok. I'm going to check the Joints, Re-grease it and install it.

you can get a replacement ball for the CV from any driveline shop, I got mine from a local company called DTS. I can post the spicer part #'s later, when I get out of work.

Yup, NAPA sells a rebuild kit that has the seal, ball, and spring. Last time I bought one it was around $25.00.

Yep, you can rebuild them. It's a bit trickey to press off the centering ball without a special tool.
