I recently moved to Colorado, and some of the trails are rocky and rough. When does a front Dana 60 become necessary?
I am not doing rad stuff, just getting closer to the peaks before I start walking. 14b ff rear, 10 bolt front, 33in tires.

In general the 10 bolt front becomes less reliable with tires over 35" tall. If it's kept 'open' you can get away with 36's.

Unless you're regularly breaking the 10 bolt front I wouldn't worry about it.

I was always told that when the 10-bolt fails, it was time to replace it with something better. I blew my rear 10-bolt and the ball joints in the front 10-bolt went, so I just upgraded rather then just keep having to worry about breaking something. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
