To get it out of the way, I'm new here(posting) so be gentle... I have the opportunity to get a Dana 60 for the front of my blazer for FREE!:woot:Here's the issue; It's off a '69 1ton and has drums on it. I've searched online for a disc brake conversion, but can't seem to find the right one (8lug):dunno:. Any of y'all done this before? If any of y'all know where I can find a kit, yer my new best friend!

That's gonna be a closed knuckle axle, to do a disc conversion on it is going to be sky high.

Honestly im not trying to burst your bubble, but the axle itself since it uses much small axle and pinion bearing, it's not going to be worth anything but a couple of bucks in the scrap yard.

Got news for you, the D60 axle was only used from 77-87 (91 square body Chevy's).

Damn I'm an idiot... I didn't even think of that!:doah:Thanks for reminding me to use my brain...

I just made a thread on a closed knuckle 60 today lol.

Aparrently they were in some military M715s or somthing. Everyone said they are junk anyways.

I think he meant the square body trucks in general the were on the heavy duty trucks and military applications like the kaiser trucks

The military Jeep trucks had a Dana 60 center section, but the outers were the same as the Dana 44 closed knuckles and weaker than the open knuckle Dana 44 that followed.

Good to know... That sounds about right, too. He's big into old military trucks, so it makes sense as to where he got it from. The search continues for a D60 that I don't have to take out a friggin loan to get, lol

Yeah you're better off finding a standard open knuckle 60. Those oneton early fronts weren't much stronger than a 44.
