I put on a 6" suspension lift on and now my front drive shaft binds.

The lift included a transfer case drop. I had a hard banging as soon as I locked in the hubs, so I crawled underneath. The problem is on the transfer case side of the shaft. What I see is that the U-joint is banging into a pair of tabs on either side of the shaft. I was going to have a drive shaft place grind off the tabs, to see if that fixes it. Maybe I need a longer shaft or different style joints?

I was just curious if anyone else had similar problems. I hadn't heard or seen any issues like this. I don't know. Still fairly new to the offroad/upgrade world.

I am suprised the instructions with your lift kit didn't tell you where to grind the front joint. As said. Its a simple job Just grind enough off of them to get clearence you need.

i havent looked at my shaft recently, but where are the tabs that can be ground off?

The 2 tabs I'm talking about are on either side of the front drive shaft at the transfer case end right before the joint. If memory serves me they stick out about a quarter inch and are maybe half an inch wide.

I have a 6 lift on my jimmy and havnt had any poblems with the front driveshaft. I was thinking the other day though. Being a cv shaft, shouldnt the front axle be rolled up like the rear. Isnt that propper driveline geometry. But rolling it up would screw up your front steering and camber and caster angles.
