Front drive shaft lengths

I plan to look for some spare front driveshafts. The last one I bought was exactly the same as my old one but I have no idea what it came out of. I run a stock front in my 87 with a 465 and 208. Are the automatics and or 205's the samedrive shaft?

I know the 700r4s are longer than a sm465 shaft. I believe the tcase doesnt make a difference but dont hold me to that. I also think the th350/400 and sm465's are the same ballpark.

when i did my switch from 208 to 205 case on my 700r4 my driveshaft from the 208 ended up being about four inches longer than it should have been so i took a shaft from a 465/205 it fit perfectly so i think it is transfer case specific but i dont know for sure and also you have to be sure to get a flange yoke shaft at the case end. some early cases has a 1330 yoke my 73 did i think it switched in the late 70's
