Looking it to replacing old worn u joints in my 87 K5 and curious if anyone here has a u joint preference for the front drive shaft?

Seems like Napa list like 4 or more brands from spicer, dana, skf etc.

This is just stock drive shaft with truck lift 4 inches 35's and 4.56 gears.

If going with spicers how do you know your getting better ones? heard something about box being different.

Thanks for heads up.

It depends on which joint for the front. At the axle or CV? The pinion is a 1310 and the CVs are 3R/S44 joints. I prefer Spicer joints. So, do you want greaseable or stronger non-greaseable type? If you have a D44/10 bolt you might as well go greaseable as you will probably break the axle before the joints. Anyways, here's the numbers on all 4.

1310 (pinion joint), Greaseable is a 5-153X. Non-greaseable (Spicer Life) is a 5-1310X.
3R/S44 (CV joint), Greaseable is a 5-3147X. Non-greaseable (Spicer Life) is a 5-795X.
