Front driveshaft has play on the splined end

It's worn out.

A driveshaft shop can replace the splined parts for you but there is so much labor involved a new shaft will be similar in price.

It may be worth just dealing with because it only spins in 4WD. It will have to get REALLY bad before you risk stripping the splines.

If your truck has a 208 and doesn't have full time hubs, the front driveshaft won't be spinning unless you are in 4WD.

Other thing you could do to bandaid it is grease the living crap out of it and install a boot on it.

I've been there done that twice so now when im out at the junkyard i look for good shape spares that are gonna be easy to remove, usually cost about $15-20

Mine did this, galled and cracked my transmission from not being able to compress
